Welcome to the APACPH Early Career Network (ECN)!
We are a vibrant community of early career professionals in the field of Public Health, dedicated to fostering collaboration, leadership development, and innovation. Our network provides a platform for aspiring Public Health leaders to connect, learn, and grow together. Here are some highlights of our recent activities:
Walter Patrick Memorial Lecture:
The prestigious Walter Patrick Memorial Lecture was held for the first time on 9th December 2020 during the APACPH 2020 Conference. This lecture series is a tribute to the late Professor Walter K. Patrick, a distinguished figure in public health and the founder of APACPH ECN. The inaugural lecture was delivered by Professor Colin Binns, a renowned expert in public health and the John Curtin Distinguished Professor at Curtin University. The lecture aimed to honor Professor Patrick’s legacy and inspire the next generation of public health leaders.
ECN Workshop: “Leadership of Public Health in the Post-COVID19 Era”:
On 6th December 2020, we organized a thought-provoking workshop as a pre-conference event of APACPH 2020. The workshop focused on the crucial topic of leadership in the post-COVID19 era. Esteemed resource persons such as Dr. Kremlin Wickramasinghe from the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe, Dr. Don Eliseo Locero-Prisno III from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and Prof. Koji Kanda from Japan shared their insights. Participants from South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Australia actively engaged in this enriching discussion.
APACPH ECN Photo Competition: “Public Health in the New Normal”:
To explore the challenges and opportunities brought by the global pandemic, we organized the APACPH ECN Photography Competition. This year, we introduced a virtual 3D platform, creating a unique and immersive experience. The competition, themed “Public Health in the New Normal,” aimed to address the complex societal issues arising from the pandemic. It provided a creative outlet for participants to showcase their perspectives on public health in these unprecedented times.
ECN Mentoring Programme:
As part of our commitment to supporting the growth and development of early career professionals, we are excited to announce the implementation of the APACPH ECN mentoring program. During the ECN workshop, under the guidance of Prof. Bruce Maycock and Prof. Wah Yun Low, participants will have the opportunity to benefit from the wisdom and guidance of experienced mentors. This program aims to foster meaningful connections and provide invaluable support to our emerging public health leaders.
Join us at the APACPH ECN to connect with like-minded individuals, expand your knowledge, and make a difference in the field of public health. Together, we can shape a healthier and more sustainable future for all.
